The PROVE Validation Apparatus

The PROVE apparatus runs three linked functions.

SUITRIX

SUITRIX test rigs reproduce mission conditions for repeatable verification and benchmarking: pressure and vacuum, thermal envelopes, hydrostatic simulation, agent exposure and cyclic mechanical loading.

Controlled transients matter alongside steady-state generation. Systems fail at transitions, and a chamber that holds a condition but cannot execute a specified profile cannot test that case.

SYNHUM

SYNHUM is a biomechanical and physiological surrogate reproducing joint kinematics, metabolic heat generation and respiratory loading.

It permits testing beyond failure limits, sustained exposure at conditions unavailable with human subjects, instrumentation at locations a person cannot carry, and exact repeatability between runs.

SYNSUIT

SYNSUIT predicts what the rig and surrogate should produce, supporting simulation, virtual validation, predictive analytics and design optimisation.

Convergence within tolerance extends the model's validated envelope. Divergence isolates a fault to either the model or the hardware.

AEROSPACE PRECEDENT

SAE AIR5992 documents systems integration rigs as standard aerospace practice, installing subsystems in their relative positions and exercising them together.

NASA applied the same approach to the X-59, running ground systems testing that commanded subsystems and the flight computer to operate as though flying, with injected failures to verify fault handling.

DIGITAL TWIN STANDARD

The National Academies framework requires verification, validation and uncertainty quantification for digital twins used in decisions. A 2025 scoping review of 149 human digital twin studies found two that addressed it.

A twin supporting safety decisions is a safety-critical system.

INFRASTRUCTURE OWNERSHIP

Test infrastructure is capital-intensive and generates no direct product revenue. Owned capacity allows a design change to be tested in the same week rather than when external facility time becomes available.

Agencies and primes purchase evidence rather than capability claims.
