The Metakosmos mission is to engineer the human systems infrastructure that enables people to operate safely where humans were never meant to be.

## THE CONSTRAINT

Launch cost per kilogram has fallen sharply over two decades. Vehicle reliability has improved. Human physiological limits have not moved at the same rate.

The US Extravehicular Mobility Unit operates at 4.3 psi. NASA research documents that the pressurised suit forces crew to expend energy deforming it, limiting mobility and contributing to musculoskeletal injury, with hand and finger injuries most common in training and flight. Standard resting prebreathe protocols require four hours of pure oxygen before a spacewalk.

Those numbers are set by physiology.

## FOUR DOMAINS

The same constraint operates terrestrially. A saturation diver, a CBRN operator and a pilot at altitude face different hazards and identical physiology, which is why the platform spans [land, sea, air and space](https://www.metakosmos.co/domains).

## HUMAN PERFORMANCE AS A BUDGET

Metakosmos carries human performance parameters as formal budgets alongside mass, power and thermal: metabolic budget across the mission profile, thermal tolerance envelope, cognitive load budget, dexterity and force envelope through the glove, and anthropometric accommodation range.

## ACCOMMODATION

Human performance data in spaceflight has been drawn from a narrow range of body types, which limits how well it predicts performance across broader populations. Wide anthropometric accommodation is specified as an engineering requirement, and applies with greater force in [terrestrial domains](https://www.metakosmos.co/land) where workforces are more varied than astronaut corps.

## EVIDENCE

Company communication states what has been tested and what has not, and reserves present tense for what exists. Awards, funding and media coverage are commercial signals rather than technical certifications.

The engineering case is built through the [validation apparatus](https://www.metakosmos.co/prove), research partnerships and grant-funded technology readiness work.

## PLATFORM EXPRESSION

That mission runs across six layers: [CORE](https://www.metakosmos.co/core) hardware, [PULSE](https://www.metakosmos.co/pulse) telemetry, [PROVE](https://www.metakosmos.co/prove) validation, [DEPLOY](https://www.metakosmos.co/deploy) field platforms, [LABS](https://www.metakosmos.co/labs) research and [ENGAGE](https://www.metakosmos.co/engage) public programmes.
