The Australian Good Design Awards recognised Kosmosuit Kernel360 in 2024, listing it as an adaptable bioastronautics suite for land, sea, air and space. The award was made in the engineering category.

The recognition applied to the software's beta version, which was in use with testing partners at the time.

## WHAT WAS ASSESSED

The recognised property was adaptability across four operating environments from a single architecture.

Kernel360 tracks biomarker data, environmental conditions and suit integrity in real time, with a modular structure adaptable from underwater simulation through to full mission environments.

## WHY ONE ARCHITECTURE COVERS FOUR ENVIRONMENTS

The four domains impose different physics. A saturation diver faces hydrostatic compression, inert gas narcosis and thermal loss. A pilot at altitude faces the inverse pressure problem and G-loading. A CBRN operator faces agent permeation and heat accumulation. An astronaut faces vacuum, thermal extremes and radiation.

The physiology being measured does not change. Cardiac output, thermoregulation, cognitive load under stress, hydration and fatigue behave identically across all four. Sensing architecture, data schema and analytics transfer directly; thresholds and primary displays are tuned per domain.

That structure now runs as the [PULSE domain variants](https://www.metakosmos.co/pulse).

## AWARD SEQUENCE

The design award followed the Moon to Mars grant in March 2024, Engineering Business of the Year at AusSpace24 in July 2024, and the pre-seed round in August 2024.

A design award is peer recognition of engineering and design quality. It is not a technical certification and confers no operational qualification.

Kernel360's architecture now forms the [PULSE layer](https://www.metakosmos.co/pulse), with the simulation element developed into [SYNSUIT](https://www.metakosmos.co/prove/synsuit).
