Metakosmos opened its first office in India in December 2024. [Entrepreneur India reported](https://www.entrepreneur.com/en-in/news-and-trends/australian-human-spaceflight-pioneer-expands-indo-pacific/484150) the expansion, describing the operation as a strategic hub for the Indo-Pacific and for collaboration with Indian government agencies, research institutions and private enterprises.

## PRIOR GROUNDWORK

Metakosmos signed a memorandum of understanding with Digilogic Systems, an aerospace and defence systems integrator, in November 2023, thirteen months before the office opened.

## PROGRAMME CONTEXT

India's Gaganyaan programme is progressing toward crewed low Earth orbit flight through a sequence of uncrewed test flights, with a space station roadmap behind it.

The first uncrewed flight carries Vyommitra, a half-humanoid robot instrumented to simulate crew functions and return data on life support and environmental systems. That approach parallels the [human surrogate methodology](https://www.metakosmos.co/prove/synhum) used in ground-based suit testing.

## MODEL

India's space programme emphasises indigenous capability and cost efficiency, which shapes foreign participation toward co-development with technology transfer and domestic industrial participation.

The bioastronautics requirement spans crew health monitoring, [EVA and IVA suit systems](https://www.metakosmos.co/space), analogue mission infrastructure and the [telemetry architecture](https://www.metakosmos.co/pulse) connecting them.

## SINCE

February 2025: partnership with Neurom Innovations covering AI, digital twins and spatial computing. October 2025: platform presentation at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney.

## REGIONAL POSITION
