Metakosmos won the Engineering Business of the Year Award at AusSpace24, the Australian Space Summit and Exhibition, in July 2024.

[Manufacturers' Monthly reported](https://www.manmonthly.com.au/metakosmos-wins-big-at-ausspace24/) the award, noting the company's work reducing spacesuit manufacturing costs and customising suits for varying body shapes using digital optimisation technology.

## CEO COMMENT

Kiriti Rambhatla said attending AusSpace24 alongside academia and major corporations had strengthened credibility in the product being built, and that winning against that field validated the company's direction.

## THE RECOGNISED WORK

Suit production has been substantially hand-executed, with bespoke sizing meaning little transfers between articles.

Parametric sizing generated computationally across a wide anthropometric range, paired with automated production, replaces individual fabrication.

Spaceflight human performance data has been drawn from a narrow range of body types, which affects how well it predicts performance across broader populations.

## RESEARCH BEHIND IT

Metakosmos collaborated with the University of Technology Sydney on digital optimisation of spacesuit form and fit, supported by a New South Wales Space Research Network Seed Project grant, drawing on research in geometry processing, mesh parametrisation and digital fabrication.

The company also partners with the Australian Postgraduate Research Intern Network, placing PhD researchers on suit component development. Research runs through [LABS](https://www.metakosmos.co/labs).

## SURROUNDING MILESTONES

March 2024: $250,000 Australian Space Agency Moon to Mars grant. August 2024: $2 million pre-seed round. Late 2024: Kernel360 launch and Australian Good Design Award.

## PLATFORM POSITION
